Our unit will help students develop an understanding of the Inuit people.
This will be accomplished through stories, vocabulary, phonics, spelling, comprehension quotes, brainstorming, research, art activities as well as student writing and independent activities. Teachers should make sure to have a display of Inuit books, videos, filmstrips, posters and Inuit artwork set up in the classroom. If at all possible, try to arrange for a guest speaker to come to talk to your children on the Inuit after this unit has been completed. Many interesting facts and questions will arise from the children, which will in turn expand their knowledge. This Canada lesson provides a teacher and student section with a variety of reading passages, activities, crossword, word search, glossary of terms, and answer key to create a well-rounded lesson plan.
