This is a bundled resource, combining the 5 titles in the Building Words set.
Primary students will begin their language arts journey into reading and writing through the exploration of rhymes, vowels and word chains. Students start by being introduced to the concept of onsets and rimes. Onsets are single consonants, blends, and digraphs that begin words or syllables. Rimes are the vowel and whatever follows it in a syllable. Then, students expand the study of rimes by working with words that have the same ending sound, but are spelled differently. Following this, students learn about vowel sounds and vowel patterns as they build words with letter tiles. Next, students grow their understanding of words and their common spelling patterns by building words from other words. Finally, students build onto root words with prefixes and suffixes in order to understand longer, more complex words. Titles included in this bundle:
• Building Word Families with Letter Tiles: Rime Time
• Building Words that Rhyme: Time to Rhyme
• Building Words with Vowel Patterns: Vowel Power
• Building Words from Words: Word Chains
• Building Words with Prefixes and Suffixes: Building Bigger Words
