About the Novel:
Journey to the Center of the Earth is a fantastical tale of one man’s obsessive and dangerous trip to prove his theory. Professor Lidenbrock is a well-known eccentric mineralogist who teaches at the university. He comes into the possession of a mysterious coded message that he believes will reveal secrets to traveling to the center of the earth. Once cracked, Lidenbrock puts his plans into motion. Accompanied by his nephew—Axel—and a local guide—Hans—the group start their long and arduous journey. They find their way to a secret entrance into a perceived dormant volcano, previously discovered by the author of the coded message—Arne Saknussemm. Following the clues, the group descends into darkness. Facing many hardships along the way, the group eventually makes it to the center, and what they find there is shocking. With this discovery, only one secret needs to be solved—how will they return to the surface?
