Throughout the unit, students conduct an in-depth study of Egyptian communities, as well as extensive research into another community of their choice. Using this open-ended resource to supplement students' look at communities around the world, they will learn about the concepts of custom and tradition of people in their own community and of people throughout the world. Students learn different games played by children throughout the world. Students also learn about different celebrations, traditional foods, and dishes from around the world. Activities included are vocabulary match game, writing jot notes into paragraphs, and a short report. The perfect complement to the "Canadian Urban and Rural Communities", and "Communities: Past, Present & Future" units. This Social Studies unit provides a teacher and student section with a variety of lessons, activities, crossword, word search, and answer key to create a well-rounded lesson plan.

This was a great unit to discover many different cultures, customs and traditions. The only thing that would make it better is a list of readings that can be used to complete the unit or written information in the pack. Overall it was a great product.
