About the Novel:
We Were Liars illustrates how the desire to protect appearances can lead to devastating consequences. Cadence Sinclair Eastman is a teenage girl from a wealthy family who spends summers on her family’s private island with her cousins Johnny and Mirren and their friend Gat. Together, they call themselves “the Liars.” After an accident during her fifteenth summer leaves Cadence with migraines and memory loss, she returns to the island two years later to discover what happened. As she pieces together her forgotten memories, Cadence begins to uncover the problems hidden beneath her family’s perfect image. Eventually, she remembers the devastating truth about the accident, her family, and the Liars.
